Last spring, my 7th-grade science students presented water-quality findings from our local creek to the city council. Two months later, the council funded new monitoring equipment. That’s the kind of learning I believe in — real questions, real audiences — and it’s why Riverside Middle School’s project-based curriculum feels like home.
In six years of teaching general science and biology, I’ve raised state assessment pass rates from 68% to 84% in my sections while keeping inquiry at the center. I differentiate aggressively: my classroom runs station rotations with tiered tasks, and my co-teaching partnership with our special education team was highlighted in our district’s inclusion report.
Beyond the classroom, I coach the robotics team and run a family science night each semester — both of which I’d be excited to continue at Riverside. Your mission statement’s emphasis on "students as citizens, not just scholars" matches how I already teach.
